Thursday, July 15, 2010

In its 1253rd meeting held on 29 January 2010, the UP Board of Regents approved President Emerlinda R. Roman’s proposal to establish the UP Paper Policy Award aimed at 1) recognizing those among the faculty and research staff who have proven track record in high level policy research and who are known for their incisive, critical and objective treatment of national issues and problems, and 2) encouraging them and others to continue to do independent policy research that will guide policy and lawmakers in the course of their work.

The awardees shall be encouraged to participate in policy dialogues and briefings where they can share their insights, analysis and recommendations on various national concerns and problems that constantly stand in the way of the country’s progress and development.

The Board also approved that the Award may be given to individuals or groups. For individuals the Award shall be in the amount of PhP 100,000 and for the groups, PhP 200,000. A budget of PhP 5 Million was approved.

During its 1256th meeting held on 24 June 2010, the BOR approved a proposal to increase the award for groups from PhP 200,000 to PhP 300,000.
